Dr. Julene Funk was raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. She completed her undergraduate degree at Indiana University. Motivated by her desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives, she pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry.
At OSU Dr. Funk had the privilege of encountering exceptional women in the field who served as a profound source of inspiration and motivation. Their dedication, expertise, and ability to make a meaningful difference in the field of oral surgery inspired her to embark on her own path as an oral surgeon.
After obtaining her DDS degree, Dr. Funk continued her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Highland Hospital/University of San Francisco. This program allowed her to refine her surgical skills and gain invaluable experience in treating complex oral conditions. Dr. Funk’s excellence as a clinician today can be attributed to her residency training that emphasized dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, IV Sedation/anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, and pathology. Currently, Dr. Funk is a candidate for the Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
With her strong foundation in oral surgery, Dr. Funk has embarked on her professional journey. She is excited to join Heritage Oral Surgery, where she combines her clinical expertise with a gentle and compassionate approach to patient care. In her free time, Dr. Funk enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband, Christian.
